Guppy Updates + Meet Sign-up

Hey Guppy Parents!

What a fantastic few weeks of practice we've had! I have loved watching our little guppies become more confident and develop more friendships.

A few announcements:

  • Happy Memorial Day! We will NOT be holding practice tomorrow in order to observe the holiday.
  • Our first Guppy meet will be held next Saturday (5/31). It starts at 9am, so DADS please feel free to arrive a little early to help us get the pool deck ready.
  • Beginning this Tuesday (5/27) we will have both morning and evening guppy practice. Feel free to pick one practice time to attend (most families do this) or attend both if your guppy would like. Morning practice is 9:15-9:45 and evening practice is from 5:15-5:45.
  • Thursday, we will ONLY have morning practice due to the big team swim meet on Thursday evening.
  • Friday will be our first "Donuts and Ribbons" where we will meet to celebrate the week's meet and accomplishments. We meet for a guppy practice from 9:00-9:30 and then have donuts and ribbons from 9:30-10:00. That is the only meeting on Fridays.
  • Coach Kendall wants to have a Guppy Team Outing Friday afternoon! We will be meeting at the Simpsonville Regal (Great Escape) at 1:20pm to see Lilo & Stitch. We would love to have you join. Feel free to include any parents, siblings, babysitters, etc.

Last, but not least... here is the sign-up this season's meets. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C45ABAD2DA6F49...

All of the volunteer positions are very simple and straightforward. We will need 3 timers, 3 recorders, and drinks & snacks for each meet. No prior experience or training is needed!

Please let us know as soon as possible if your guppy will not be attending this week's meet against Riverwalk so that we can plan for the meet.

Thanks!

-Kelly Gainey and Lori Fleck

  • Short freestyle (age 10 & under, 25 meters; 11 & older, 50 meters)
  • Long freestyle (age 10 & under, 50 meters; 11 & older, 100 meters)
  • Breast Stroke
  • Back Stroke
  • Butterfly
  • Individual Medley (butterfly, back, breast, free)

A sticker poster by the pool will help the kids to keep track of which strokes they have completed towards their Iron Man and Iron Chick goals. At the end of the year each child who accomplishes their goal will be awarded a special prize at the July season ending party.
