Guppy Information
- The HTCC Guppies program is for young swimmers, ages 4 & up, who may not quite be ready for "big team". This team is perfect for learning and developing skills to be successful at swimming. Guppies will participate in their own meets with other SAIL Guppy teams. About Guppies
- Guppy practices will be conducted with a coach or helper by the swimmer’s side to support and cheer them on from one end of the pool to the other.
- As they are ready, Guppies may be moved up to the Big Team to swim one or two events before the season is over.
Parent Responsibilities
- At the Guppy Meets, parents will operate the stopwatches for only our Hurricane Guppies. They will also write the times on the Guppy Ribbons. No parent certification training is necessary because nothing is “official”.

Hey! My name is Owen Flaherty and I am the Head Co Guppy Coach with Coach Ally! I have been swimming for 12+ years. I will also be helping with the big team when needed! This is my second year coaching! I am a rising Junior at Mauldin High School and I've been swimming on the MHS varsity swim team for the past 3 seasons and 1 year on the state team! In my off season I am a second grade church leader and I also Intern a Harmony at Fiveforks! I’m very excited for my second year as a coach. Im looking forward to a great summer! Go Hurricanes!!
Hey everyone, my name is Ally Spradlin and I’m coaching the guppy team with Owen Flaherty this season! I’m excited to be your child’s coach! A little about me is I’m currently at Clemson University studying Early Childhood Education, and live with my four best friends! I’ve swam on Hollytree since I was 6 years old, and swam competitively in high school as well. My favorite color is pink and my favorite animal is a Weiner dog! I’m so excited to meet everyone this season!!
Hi everyone! I’m Annabella, and I’m so excited to be the assistant guppy coach this season! I'm a rising senior at Mauldin High School, and after graduation I plan to attend college to earn my degree in Early childhood education, along with a minor in theatre. I’ve been swimming year-round for eight years, been on the Mauldin Varsity Swim Team since my seventh grade year, and have been with the Hurricanes for two years; so I have a lot of experience with all four strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly—as well as starts, turns, and finishes. I’m really excited to help you all learn proper technique, get more comfortable in the water, and keep improving each day. I’ll always be cheering you on, helping you fix little things, and making sure we’re still having fun at practice. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and have an awesome season together!
