Divisionals Week - July 5-9

Hurricanes!

Divisionals week is quickly approaching and we are super excited for the fun we will have!  Our theme this year is 50s SOCK HOP!  For those new to team, every year each team will select a 'theme' to have for the Divisionals Parade that takes place at the beginning of the Divisionals race (see more info below).

Attached is the chart I sent last week - it's updated.  Please print out to have as easy access for the activities next week.  A few things to signup/RSVP for -

Holly Tree Cup - please RSVP for you and your swimmer.  We use these numbers to help create teams to compete in the event.  We also will have a pizza party after and need a headcount of who wants to eat pizza!

Pasta Pump Dinner & Breakfast of Champions Dinner - there is a signup on the Upcoming events page for you to donate food for the these events.

Also, we are accepting donations of $20 per family to help fund the activities we have planned for divisionals.  You can pay cash or Venmo to @htcc-swimteam.

Costumes: Traditionaly swimmers dress up in fun costumes relative to the theme - think white tshirts with sleeves rolled up and slicked back hair for guys. Poodle skirts (easy to do via the link - The only thing required to sew is the elastic waist and I substituted a hook and eye in lieu of the sewing.) for girls. They will wear them over their swimsuits because they will need to be easy to take off once meet begins.

Special Thanks to Leigh Walters (Charlie, Annie, Claire & Xander's mom) for planning the whole week for us!

Let us know if any questions --

All the best,

Lori & Paige

Iron Man & Iron Chick

Iron Man and Iron Chick
Each child has the opportunity to earn this award. To qualify, each swimmer must correctly swim each of the 6 meet events (swimmers age 8 & under need complete only 5 events):

  • Short freestyle (age 10 & under, 25 meters; 11 & older, 50 meters)
  • Long freestyle (age 10 & under, 50 meters; 11 & older, 100 meters)
  • Breast Stroke
  • Back Stroke
  • Butterfly
  • Individual Medley (butterfly, back, breast, free)

A sticker poster by the pool will help the kids to keep track of which strokes they have completed towards their Iron Man and Iron Chick goals. At the end of the year each child who accomplishes their goal will be awarded a special prize at the July season ending party.
