May 20th Weekly Newsletter

Hurricanes!

Hope you all enjoyed such a gorgeous weekend!  My apologies I'm sending the newsletter a day late.  I was out of town for the weekend.  This week we have some important announcements:

  1. We are holding our Mock Meet this Thursday at 5:00 pm for Big Team.  Guppies will NOT have practice on Thursday.  Please see the attached newsletter for Mock Meet details.  We are having a pizza party after the Mock meet, so please be sure to indicate on the event if your family will be attending.  www.htcchurricanes.swimtopia.com
  2. All parents must register their swimmers for our 1st official swim meet next week via our team website.  Please see attached instructions on how to complete this.
  3. Volunteers Needed - THANK YOU to those that have completed certification.  We still NEED volunteers to be certfied via SAIL in order for us to run swim meets.  It is mandatory for our team to have a certain number of certified parents.  We are still in need of timers, runners, stroke & turn and a Referee to shadow Jeff Wood this year.  Please consider helping us.  It is team policy that we have at least 1 member from each family be SAIL certified.
  4. Lastly, we are having a PARENT MEETING next Tuesday, May 28th at 5:30 pm.  This is also the night the swimmers will paint their handprints for this year on the HTCC Wall.  Please plan to be there.

If you have any questions, please let us know.  See you at the pool!

Iron Man & Iron Chick

Iron Man and Iron Chick
Each child has the opportunity to earn this award. To qualify, each swimmer must correctly swim each of the 6 meet events (swimmers age 8 & under need complete only 5 events):

  • Short freestyle (age 10 & under, 25 meters; 11 & older, 50 meters)
  • Long freestyle (age 10 & under, 50 meters; 11 & older, 100 meters)
  • Breast Stroke
  • Back Stroke
  • Butterfly
  • Individual Medley (butterfly, back, breast, free)

A sticker poster by the pool will help the kids to keep track of which strokes they have completed towards their Iron Man and Iron Chick goals. At the end of the year each child who accomplishes their goal will be awarded a special prize at the July season ending party.
